o2 Sustainability Treehouse
By Dustin Feider
September 2005

The o2 Sustainability Treehouse is eco friendly tree house. It is made of aluminium, wood and recycled milk carton plastic. The treehouse was inspired by Japanese lanterns. The structure is built around/as part of the tree. The tree house uses cable suspension rather than nuts and bolts to attach it to the tree. This is so it doesn’t harm or damage the tree. The treehouse lights up which makes it look like it’s glowing. There are gaps in the treehouse walls which causes some of the branches around it to also light up.  It creates a soft aura. During the day inside the tree house you can see the shadows cast by the tree branches.

Apple Store
Fifth Avenue, New York

The apple symbol in the glass box lights up and appears to be floating. The box use to be made out of 90 panels but when technology allowed bigger glass panels to be created they were replaced. Now the box is made out of just 15 panels. The storefront is unique to apple. People walk into the box and down a set of stairs to get inside the store, which is underground. The stairs create the centre point of the shop. The store has a clear layout that is consistent, which makes it easy for people to navigate their way around. The store is well lit inside. The products are laid out simply but clearly so they are easy to view.
